Puccini’s score is rich in musical marvels (featuring ‘Nessun dorma’), while Andrei Serban’s production draws on Chinese theatrical tradition to evoke a colourful fantasy tableau of ancient Peking.

 

We are delighted to share details of the brand-new Cinema Season from The Royal Opera House. The 2022-23 season will be the biggest season yet with 13 world-class productions – seven operas and six ballets.

 

2022-23 Cinema Season Key Highlights

• Popular classics including The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, La bohème, Aida and Madama Butterfly – the best all-time performing opera in cinemas
• Highly anticipated new production of Cinderella from the Royal Ballet
• An international roster of opera stars including Juan Diego Flórez and Danielle de Niese in La bohème, Elena Stikhinaand Ludovic Tézier in Aida, and Bryn Terfel in The Barber of Seville
• For the first time ever, two opening night live broadcasts – Mayerling and The Royal Ballet: A Diamond Celebration
• The World Premiere of Christopher Wheeldon’s new ballet Like Water for Chocolate
